. the success of all of our sports team in the region has been a good thing for local businesses. specifically you know at the sports bars and restaurants. the argonaut restaurant is one of countless places in our region where people gather to watch the ravens and redskins and nationals and orioles. sunday was the first day dc bars and restaurants could stay open until 4:00 in the morning, the day before columbus day as well as veteran's day, thanksgiving and christmas. >> i think dc is getting young and i guess hipper, as they say. i think people are out later now. when it is going to be good, i don't know. i don't think anybody knows, at this point. >> the argonaut was one of 42 establishments which applied for and was given licenses to stay open until 4:00. >>> the sentencing hearing for justifies r jerry sandusky -- for jerry sandusky is scheduled to begin tomorrow. he was convicted last spring of 45 child sexual abuse charges. after he is sentenced the first stop will be camp hill state prison, where he will undergo testing and classification. there are lawsuits filed against penn state a

interesting. fall pledge drives have started at your local public tv and radio. >> big bird will have to take a pay cut. >>> we had a couple of former local politicians watch the debate in our studio last night. former congressman tom periello of virginia conceded mitt romney won the night but he may have to pay the price for his strong performance. >> his policy positions are completely opposite from everything he said the last 18 months. i think he came across strongly but i think people's concern is does this guy have a core sense of right and wrong. when they look at the policy discrepancies and how it falls on the middle class, he will have to answer for that. >> we'll also hear from former maryland governor gobb earlic what he thought of the debate coming up in our next half- hour. >>> police are asking to help find a missing fairfax county teenager. ryan glenn -- bryan glenn was last seen outside of w.t. woodson high school but he wasn't at class. investigators have been out with blood hounds searching the area. if you have any information on glenn's whereabouts, please call police. >>

moderate to locally heavy rains. even here in the metro some moderate rains. it's only going to be increasing here as we get into the afternoon. let's talk about the wind field from sandy. an enormously wide storm. tropical storm force winds extending like 450 miles from the center. hurricane force winds more than a hundred miles from the center. the orange and the reason we make a distinction with the 58 mile an hour winds strowct turly, -- structurally, evening firing wise this is a level of wind that becomes more damaging too and especially the hurricane force winds. hurricane force winds reach the coast this evening. by 8:00 all of us will be dealing with tropical storm force winds. the more damaging winds by 8:00 encompass the bay, our eastern counties and look at the hurricane force winds from southern jersey across most of delaware, down through ocean city and assateague and moving toward easton and denton. by 2:00 a.m., these are considered sustained wind forecast from the national hurricane center. by 2:00 a.m., they're forecasting potentially these very strong winds

for "the new york times." that one has not come across our radar here inside the print room but one local paper, the arkansas, democrat gazette where i -- in the same town where i used to work, the headline obama feistier. romney keeps up. tension rises as debate hits the hot issues. so what we're seeing in all these headlines this morning is essentially there was no huge blow yao winner. there was no big knockout punch from this second debate, but by most accounts, obama, as you can see from these headlines, he really seemed to have the edge. he was on the attack. he was on the offensive. he seemed much more engaged, much more energetic than in the first debate and he really came out and delivered. he did what he needed to do. as for romney, he didn't have any big mistakes and his campaign is saying that he did very well. by all accounts most republicans are very pleased with his performance. but i do think right now at least the edge is going to have to go to owe bam madam president we'll have to -- to obama. we'll have to wait and see how this translates into the polls in the days and

could have damaging winds with trees down, power outages and heavy rain. some localized flooding. we'll know more as we get closer to it. i just wanted to prep you on it. a quick look at the models. while it looks consistent through monday morning, look at the spread as we get into tuesday and wednesday now. just about everything making that turn again from around montauk point down toward ocean city. we have to watch this one. let's talk about today's forecast. the bus stop forecast. we've got clouds out there, some spoy drizzle, patchy fog, 50s and 60s. sunrise 7:29. for today we start like yesterday with cloudy skies. midday still cloudy65. but this afternoon some sunshine should break out in spots. that will boost us to about 71. winds east at a to 10. fog a little bit of a problem. south-of-town now, mile and a half in stafford. quarter mile in petersburg. easton doing a little bit better but we still have sissibility issues -- have visibility issues on the eastern shore. 59 in easton. 61 hagerstown. 64 fredricksburg. so fairly uniform temperatures. outside on our michael & son

, these are the storms we had last night. locally this morning it is quiet but the stuff down in raleigh, that's moving to the north northeast and that's what i think could be getting here in few hours. as you look at the doppler radar this morning just an isolated shower or two. heaviest stuff near annapolis. now with monika samtani on this friday morning, timesaver traffic. i saw a camera back there the beltway ugly. >>> yeah so ugly and i can't believe it's only 5:00 in the morning. but, hence it's washington. and u know, but normally on friday mornings we don't deal with this. today is a different story. let's take a look live on the inner loop of the beltway before route 355. take a look at this. this delay now begins right through bethesda heading eastbound toward route 355. and it doesn't even look like anything is moving right now. and that's because there are two tractor-trailers, two separate accidents got involved there before route 355. wreckers on the scene, t it's going to take a little while to clean this up. i believe one of the accidents involves a fuel spill now as well. so keep that
